I came across this very interesting site via wandering youtube. Hometown Baghdad is a website with a blog and videos that document the lives of some Iraqis day to day. It gives a very different perspective than any I have seen on TV.
Just watch and you’ll understand.

It definitely puts our own college experience into perspective. It is astounding the degree of courage needed just to walk into the classroom there. Of course, you’ll never see any of this on American television, because it is horribly depressing. Here we see the very human cost of sectarian strife. I wonder if we would be willing to do more if this came across our TV screens every evening?

That is an enlightening video. It’s frightening to think of what students go through there as compared to us here.
